BALL PARK
bloomsbury square, london

Ball Park was a site-specific installation located high up in the trees in Bloomsbury Square, London. It was commissioned by the Bloomsbury Festival in collaboration with the Slade School of Art for the Festival’s inaugural celebration of the area. Approximately a metre in dimension, these large playful balls were created from paper spheres and striped plastic carrier bags. They were sited temporarily high up in the trees, out of reach, in Bloomsbury Square Garden during the Festival weekend. The balls played on the familiar sight of footballs and plastic bags that remain caught or suspended in trees out of reach. They do not biodegrade and often remain stuck in the branches for years.

Plastic bags, paper, bamboo, wire, glue. Ball dimensions - 110 x 110 cm each
